Govt laying special focus on infra development in Khammam: Puvvada
The government was taking steps to develop Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) on par with Hyderabad and funds were being allotted accordingly, the Minister said
Khammam: The State government was laying special focus on infrastructure development in Khammam, Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar said on Tuesday.
The government was taking steps to develop Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) on par with Hyderabad and funds were being allotted accordingly, he said, speaking after laying the foundation stone for NSP walk way works here. The works of laying walkway, setting up an open gym and mini park at Gopalapuram under the limits of the KMC have been taken up with an estimated expenditure of Rs 3.75 crore. A four kilometre long walkway on either side of NSP canal would be laid for the locals’ use, he said.
Ajay Kumar informed that steps have been taken for the beautification of NSP canal surroundings in the city and walkways being developed to help the citizens residing in the area to have pleasant morning walks. He reminded that a walkway was already developed with Rs 4.5 crore at Yellandu cross roads for the convenience of the locals and to spread health consciousness among them. Similarly utilising the space around Khanapuram tank a mini tank bund developed with Rs 1.55 crore.
The minister also laid the foundation stone for a vegetable and meat market at Khanapuram and for a Vaikunta Dhamam at KCR Nagar at Tekulapalli where recently a complex of over 1000 double bedroom houses were inaugurated by IT, MA&UD Minister, K T Rama Rao. He directed the officials and the contracting agencies to ensure quality in the works and complete the works as per schedule. He told the officials to regularly monitor the progress of the works.
Later in the day, Ajay Kumar inspected the trial run of a dancing fountain at Lakaram Tank Bund. He said the dancing fountain, installed with an expenditure of Rs 1.75 crore would be an added attraction at the tank bund where walking tracks and parks were already developed.
Khammam ZP Chairman L Kamalraj, MLC B Lakshminarayana, SUDA Chairman B Vijay Kumar, DCC Bank Chairman K Nagabhushaiah, District Collector RV Karnan, Municipal Commissioner Anurag Jayanthi and others were present.
