Hyderabad: Telangana State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Tuesday alleged that the State government’s decision not to invite Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to address the budget session of the State Assembly was thoughtless.
“The Governor only addresses the speech prepared by the government and not her own,” he said, speaking with the media after offering prayers at Sri Raja Rajeswara Temple in Vemulawada in connection with Maha Shivaratri festival.
“The Governor did not humiliate anyone nor did she support any political party. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao also appreciated her,” he said, and sought to know why the Governor was not invited to address the budget session.
“The ruling party is degrading the Governor’s system and its not a good practice,” Sanjay said, adding that the Chief Minister was attempting to implement the politics of West Bengal. He said the BJP activists would not accept such a move by the ruling party.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, Sanjay demanded that the State government convene an all-party meeting to discuss the problems faced by tenant farmers in the State. Representatives from the farmers unions could also be invited for the meeting, he said, adding that there are as many as 14 lakh tenant farmers in the State but they were not getting the benefits of various welfare schemes introduced by the State government since State formation.
“The tenant farmers were unable to avail Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima schemes apart from farm loans. In view of the problems being faced by the tenant farmers, it is the responsibility of the State government to come to the rescue of them and render justice to them,” he said.
