Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao said that the State government was contemplating upgrading Forest College and Research Institute in Mulugu into a university. He said that the file related to the university status to Forest College was on Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s table.
Addressing the bankers after inaugurating the new branch of Union Bank of India at Horticulture University Mulugu in Siddipet district on Monday, the Minister asked the bankers to grant loans to farmers at the right time so that they can invest them on cultivation.
Rao appealed to the bankers not to recover the dues of crop loans from the Aasara pensions, and Rythu Bandu which the State government deposits in beneficiaries’ accounts.
Since the Covid-19 pushed the people into financial crisis, Rao suggested bankers extend loans to the poor and middle class liberally to help them recover from the crisis.
Since the Andhra Bank and Corporation Banks were merged in Union Bank of India, the Minister said that Union bank stands in the second position in the State while it stands at 5th place with a turnover of Rs 1.51 lakh crore.
Harish Rao participated in multiple programmes in the Gajwel Constituency of Siddipet district. Collector P Venkatrami Reddy and others were present.
