Rajanna-Sircilla: The BRS working president KT Rama Rao alleged that the state government was conspiring to privatise the power sector on the pretext of the discoms sustaining losses. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who has begun a new drama in the name of Rythu Discom, was planning to install meters for transformers and agricultural motors under the Rythu Discom.

There was no mention of Rythu Discom among the 420 promises made to the public by the Congress party. Though no state in the country has such a discom, why has the state government introduced Rythu Discom in Telangana, the BRS leader sought to know. Rama Rao made these comments while admitting Veernapalli sarpanch Anil and others into the party at Telangana Bhavan in Sircilla on Tuesday.

The BRS working president expressed deep concern over the condition of the state. Telangana, which used to be like a ‘Vaddinchina Vistari’ (a platter of food already served) under the previous government, has turned into a ‘Kukkalu Chimpina Vistari’ (a leaf platter torn into pieces by dogs). Revanth Reddy borrowed Rs 4 lakh crore during the last two-and-a-half years. Had the Chief Minister done at least one good thing with that amount, Rama Rao questioned.

Terming Revanth Reddy a ‘renewal CM’, the BRS leader said that instead of farmers, Rythu Bandhu amounts had been deposited into the account of Rahul Gandhi. Though the entire country rejected the Congress party, the people of Telangana elected it. Was Indiramma Rajyam meant to create troubles for farmers and dishonour all poll promises, he questioned.

Referring to farmers’ troubles at procurement centres, the BRS leader called upon the farming community to question leaders over crop procurement instead of touching their feet. How could leaders who could not procure even the crop produced by farmers make them crorepatis, he questioned.

Leaders who approach farmers during elections were unable to provide Rythu Bandhu amounts at the time of paddy transplantation, he said, and found fault with the government for registering cases against BRS leaders who were fighting on behalf of farmers. Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Revanth Reddy were not in a position to supply even urea to farmers, he alleged.
