Hyderabad: A day after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced the allocation of double-bedroom homes for families who would be displaced by the Musi Riverfront Development Project, the State government on Wednesday issued orders sanctioning 15,000 2BHK houses to families residing in dwelling units of the river bed and buffer zone of Musi River.

According to the order, Musi River Front Development Corporation Limited Managing Director has stated that a field level survey of the Musi River and its buffer zones has been conducted and about 15,000 households were identified. The corporation requested the government that as most of the families residing in dwelling units of the river bed and buffer zone were economically weak, these families might be allotted 2BHK in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area on humanitarian grounds through the District Collector.

The government has sanctioned 15,000 2BHK to families residing in river bed and buffer zone of the Musi River, the order stated.

Recently, the authorities had conducted a survey of the Musi river bed and buffer zone and identified 10,200 people as affected by the Musi riverfront development project. Starting Wednesday, teams led by the collectors of the Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts will go door to door to inform residents about their allotted double-bedroom houses.

Initially, 1,600 occupied houses in the Musi riverbed will be removed, and residents will be relocated. For landowners, the compensation will include both the cost of construction and the value of the land, along with the allotment of a 2BHK house. Those living in the buffer zone will receive compensation for their structures in accordance with the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Act.
