Warangal Urban: Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy on Wednesday said that 25 lakh hectares of land in the State would get irrigation facility once the ongoing irrigation projects are completed. The government is focusing on cultivation of oil palm which would benefit the farmers, he said.

Speaking at several programmes after inaugurating eight Rythu Vedikas in the district, Niranjan Reddy said, “The State recorded three crore tonne of paddy yield last Yasangi alone as the crop was cultivated in 1.06 crore acres. And an additional 25 lakh hectares of land will get water once the projects taken up by the TRS government are completed.”

Stating that the cultivation of the oil palm will bring huge profits to farmers compared to traditional crops, Niaranjan Reddy said they were developing the oil palm mega nurseries on a large scale. “We have also increased the storage capacity by constructing more godowns,” he said and promised to sanction 50,000 metric tonnes capacity godown for the Station Ghanpur Assembly constituency.

MLC and Rythu Bandhu Samithi State president Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said that each Rythu Vedika had been constructed at a cost of Rs 22 lakhs. It may be noted here that Palla has donated 15 guntas of his own land and nearly Rs 10 lakh for the construction of the ‘Rythu Vedika’ with an extended plinth area at his native village Shodashapalli in Velair mandal.

Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, MLAs D Vinay Bhaskar, T Rajaiah,  Zilla Parishad chairman Dr M Sudheer Kumar, District Collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu and other officials attended the programmes.
