GP Polls: Family face-offs in Kothagudem’s Julurpad attract attention
Family rivalries have marked the final phase of gram panchayat elections in Julurpad mandal, with five members of one family contesting in Kothur village and another family face-off witnessed in Machinenipet panchayat.

Kothagudem: Five members of a family of Kothur in Julurpad mandal were in the fray in the third and final phase of gram panchayat elections to be held on Wednesday in the district.
Two persons, Akkula Pedda Ramulu, supported by CPI and his brother Akkula Narasimha Rao, supported by a BRS-Congress-TDP combine, are contesting for Kothur GP sarpanch seat after withdrawal of nominations. In the GP with eight wards and 893 voters, the sarpanch seat is reserved for ST (General).
On the other hand, the mother of the above two contestants, Akkula Naramma, her second son, Akkula Chinna Ramulu and her grandson Rajesh have been contesting as the ward members in the GP.
Similarly, a man, Lakavath Reddy, supported by BRS and his daughter-in-law, Lakavath Janaki, are contesting for the sarpanch seat in Machinenipet gram panchayat in the same mandal. These family face-offs have been attracting attention of all.
