Gram panchayat polls in Telangana scheduled for December 3, says Minister Laxman Kumar
The Telangana government has announced that gram panchayat elections will be held on December 3. SC, ST Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar emphasised that the government is committed to ensuring the timely completion of these elections.
Jagtial: The State government will conduct gram panchayat elections on December 3, SC, ST Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar announced on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media after distributing Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak cheques in Pegadapalli, the Minister said the government had taken up the process to ensure that the gram panchayat elections were completed on time.
Nearly Rs 3,000 crore in central funds would have to be returned if the polls were not conducted by March 31, 2026, which prompted the decision to hold these elections first to secure the funds. The MPTC and ZPTC elections would be held later, he said.
He said the issue of 42 percent reservation for BCs was pending before the High Court and that MPTC and ZPTC elections would be conducted based on the court’s directions.
