Hyderabad: The State government has increased the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) wards from the existing 150 to 300. To this effect, GOMs 266 was issued on Monday.

This decision comes after the recent move to merge 27 Urban Local Bodies with GHMC.

The GHMC Commissioner submitted a detailed study report titled “Ward Reorganisation Framework for GHMC in the context of the proposed merger of 27 ULBs” to the government. The study was conducted by the Centre for Good Governance.

Accordingly, the GHMC Commissioner requested the State government to notify 300 wards in GHMC limits, the government order said.
