Hyderabad: Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Wednesday said the net zero energy buildings would directly help in growing the economy and improve the quality of life through advances in measurement science, and new standards and technologies.
Speaking after laying foundation stone for ‘Vidyut Niyantran Bhavan’ of Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TSERC), she said the building was designed to meet Green Building Councils’ LEED rating of platinum, which is the highest rating for energy efficiency and environmental protection.
It will include the state-of-the-art design, solar panels, ventilation, and air conditioning systems apart from a smart grid meter, energy-efficiency lighting and advanced insulation. In addition, the building is going to integrate them together into an operating residence and provide a research facility for entrepreneurs, she explained.
While incorporating new technologies at the building to help achieve energy sustainability, the TSERC was going to create the construction industry of the future, she said adding that the facility, which will start by October 2022, would support the State and nation.
“By providing green environment, the work efficiency is going to increase and at the same time, I think we can unleash an enormous economic wave of improvement by taking the TSERC net zero energy office as an example,” she added.
Speaking on the occasion, TSERC Chairman T Sriranga Rao said, “We are constructing the building in preparation and anticipation of the climate and environment challenges we shall see in our future.”
