Sangareddy: Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) Chairman B P Pandya has directed irrigation officials to strictly follow the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) guidelines to ensure the safety of the Singur reservoir.
The Chairman, along with other board members, inspected the project as part of their visit to review the condition of the reservoir. The team examined the crest gates, the GENCO power plant and the bund, while also inquiring about the present storage status, power generation and downstream water releases during the current season.
As part of the visit, the board members and Singur staff also undertook a brief clean-up of the premises. Pandya instructed officials to prepare proposals for obtaining State government funds to carry out repair works as suggested by the NDSA.
He also emphasised the need to curb the use of plastic around the reservoir. The board members noted the growing number of tourists visiting the project site during their inspection.
GRMB member M Ranganathan, Irrigation SE Pochamallu, EE Bheem, DyEE Nagaraju and other officials were present. The reservoir was receiving over 70,000 cusecs of inflows from upstream on Wednesday, with an equal amount being released downstream through multiple crest gates.
