Hyderabad: Two interstate drug transporters, including a juvenile, were caught by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Secunderabad Railway Station for allegedly smuggling marijuana from Odisha to Gujarat on Thursday.
Police seized 17.9 kg of marijuana worth Rs 8.95 lakh from them during a surprise checking drive conducted on railway platforms and trains.
The suspects are Deepak Swain, a construction worker from Surat, and a 16-year-old boy, both natives of Odisha.
According to the police, the duo was allegedly recruited by a drug peddler, Rajesh Kumar, who is currently absconding, with a promise of money to transport the contraband from the Phulbani forest area in Odisha to Surat. The marijuana was packed in two trolley suitcases and transported on the Visakha Express.
