Sangareddy: Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy accused the Congress government of diverting the corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds of industries located in Patancheru constituency to other areas.

Demanding the government to spend the entire CSR amount collected from industries located in Patancheru constituency on development and welfare, Mahipal Reddy presented a representation to Collector P Pravinya at her chambers on Wednesday.

Speaking after his meeting with the Collector, Mahipal Reddy said that there were a number of bulk drug industries, which had to allot 0.5 per cent of their profits towards CSR in areas where the industries were located in Patancheru.

However, Reddy said that the Congress government had been diverting these funds to other constituencies across the state at the cost of Patancheru and its people.

Since the people suffer from the industrial pollution, the MLA said that the government must spend the CSR funds in Patancheru. He further said that the national green tribunal had directed the government to establish a 200 bed super speciality hospital in Patancheru, to meet the needs of residents and industry workers besides directing the government to set up multiple sewage treatment plants.

The MLA said that there were directions to supply free and safe drinking water to pollution affected areas in the constituency, but it was not being implemented properly.
