Gyana Sai Santosh shares lead after fifth round at VIT-AP chess tournament

M. Gyana Sai Santosh of Andhra Pradesh shared the lead with S. Vikramjit Singh of Railways and Saiharvansh of Tamil Nadu after the fifth round of the inaugural International Chess Tournament conducted by VIT-AP University at Amaravati

Hyderabad: M. Gyana Sai Santosh of Andhra Pradesh shared the lead at the end of the fifth round with five points, along with S. Vikramjit Singh of Railways and Saiharvansh of Tamil Nadu, in the inaugural International Chess Tournament conducted by VIT-AP University at Amaravati on Wednesday.

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Youth and Sports and Transport M. Ram Prasad Reddy inaugurated the championship. VIT-AP University Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Arulmozhivarman, VIT-AP University Registrar Dr Jagadish Chandra Mudiganti, Andhra Chess President A. Suresh, Andhra Chess Chairman K V V Sharma Garu and Andhra Chess Secretary Jagadesh graced the inaugural function.


Important results: Round 5: P. Sri Sai Baswanth (4.5) drew with Druvesh Dondapati (4.5); A.R. Saiharvesh (5) bt AGM Vignesh (4); Alluri Samanyu (4.5) drew with Kolla Bhaavan (4.5); M. Gyana Sai Santosh (5) bt M. Vinoth Kumar (4); K. Kalpak Harsha Keertan (4) lost to S. Vikramjit Singh (5); K. Samarateja (3.5) lost to V. Prudhvi Kumar (4.5); S. Haridev (4.5) bt P. Rohith (3.5); Samuel Stephen Noble (3.5) lost to C. Maniswar (4.5); Sinthia Sarkar (4) drew with S. Mohit (4); R. Logesh Kumar (4.5) bt A. Prakul (3.5).
