H-CITI works at IIIT Junction, Khajaguda to finish by April 2027
Cyberabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner G Srijana said the H-CITI infrastructure works at IIIT Junction and Khajaguda will be completed by April 2027. She also announced new sanitation, pedestrian safety and food safety initiatives, besides providing an update on the Miyapur missing person case.
Hyderabad: The ongoing works on three flyovers and one underpass at IIIT Junction and Khajaguda Junction will be completed by April 2027, said Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner G Srijana.
Speaking to the media here on Friday, Srijana said these infrastructure projects were progressing at a brisk pace and, to avoid inconvenience to commuters, the roads had been widened at the work sites.
For pedestrians, five special drives under ‘Walk Free’ have been conducted across various zones and footpaths have been restored. The drive will continue, she said, adding that cases would be registered against those attempting to encroach on the reclaimed footpaths.
The Commissioner said a QR code system would soon be affixed to every house to ensure garbage collection runs smoothly, and 5,000 sanitation workers would be trained in association with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI).
Elderly man missing
Referring to the missing 70-year-old Balaiah, who was washed away at Vaishali Nagar in Miyapur, Srijana said, “A police report on the incident is awaited, and an FIR will be registered against the contractor concerned for not following safety measures at the storm water drain work site.”
The Commissioner also listed other initiatives, including a tie-up with UNICEF to make the CMC a child-friendly civic body, Project Udvasana to collect sacred waste material, a weekly e-waste drive on every fourth Saturday, and the ‘No Bin, No Trade’ initiative, under which penalties will be imposed on violators. She added that, as part of food safety measures, inspections would be conducted at all butcher shops under special drives to check quality and measurement.
