Hafizpet Railway Station redevelopment nears completion

The redevelopment of Hafizpet railway station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is nearing completion, with 99 per cent of works finished. The upgraded station features modern passenger amenities, improved accessibility and enhanced infrastructure at a revised project cost of Rs 33 crore.

Hyderabad: The modernisation works to transform Hafizpet railway station are nearing completion, with the State-of-the-art facility set to open for passengers in the coming days.

The station has undergone a major makeover as part of the redevelopment works being taken up as part of ‘Naya Bharat Naya Station’ initiative of Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) of the Railway Ministry.


As on date, 99 per cent of the proposed development works have been completed. Simultaneously, all the pending works are being taken up at a fast clip, aimed at completing them at the earliest, so that the station can be inaugurated soon.

The Hafizpet railway station redevelopment was taken up with an approximate cost of Rs 29.21 crore. However, due to the delay in execution and workforce issues among other reasons, the cost jumped to approximately Rs 33 crore. It was first planned to be completed by 2025 end, with the aim to provide better, international -standard amenities to passengers.

The key completed works include the launch of the Foot over Bridge (FoB) with 12 metre width, with a ramp, covering on platforms, modern toilets, station building, circulating area, platform reconstruction, sign boards, two lifts and two escalators.

The South Central Railway (SCR) authorities said the envisaged transformation of the Hafizpet railway station was in good shape.

Around 60 MMTS train services and eight express train services ply through this station.

The station is being upgraded with various passenger-friendly facilities, including a spacious concourse, waiting halls, food stalls, and restrooms. It also has provisions for divyangjan passengers, including separate toilets and ramps, etc.

• Construction of FoB, lifts and escalators

• Platform constructions

• Construction of waiting hall

• Landscaping in circulating area, circulating area improvements

• Provision of passenger-friendly signage, train indication boards
