Hailstorm, early morning rains devastate crops in Siddipet’s Nanganur Mandal
The rains began around 3:30 AM, catching farmers off guard while they were fast asleep. Agriculture and horticulture officials later inspected the damaged fields in Palamakula and Nanganur mandals. BRS leader Japa Srikanth Reddy appealed to the government to conduct a crop loss assessment and provide compensation to the affected farmers.
Siddipet: Early morning rains coupled with hailstorms lashed several parts of the Siddipet district on Thursday. The Nagnanur mandal was hit the worst as the agriculture and horticulture crops were severely damaged in the villages of Nanganur.
It started raining at 3.30 am when the farmers were in deep sleep. Agriculture, and horticulture officials visited the damaged fields at Palamakula and Nanganur mandals. BRS leader Japa Srikanth Reddy urged the government to carry out enumeration of the crops to compensate the farmers.
He said that the paddy farmers were worst hit as the standing crops have been flattened due to rains coupled with hailstorms. The farmers said that they were preparing to harvest the crop when the untimely rains dashed their hopes.
