Sangareddy: The parking of an Additional Collector’s vehicle in front of a ramp built to facilitate the movement of persons with disabilities into the collectorate was making access difficult for visitors with disabilities at the Sangareddy Collectorate.

A number of persons with disabilities usually visit the collectorate every Monday during the grievance day to submit complaints to the Collector and other officials. They also visit officials of various departments on other working days.

To facilitate their smooth entry into the collectorate premises, officials had constructed a ramp and provided a wheelchair, besides appointing a person to assist them in reaching officials’ chambers or the grievance hall.

However, an Additional Collector’s vehicle was allegedly being parked in a manner that blocked the ramp, forcing persons with disabilities to struggle to use the facility while entering the collectorate.

Several visitors with disabilities were seen facing difficulties on Monday as the vehicle was again parked in front of the ramp. Interestingly, officials had placed a notice board at the location warning that parking at the entrance would attract a fine of Rs 1,000.

“Will they impose a fine on these vehicles?” some persons with disabilities questioned.

They urged Collector Prateek Jain to ensure that the vehicle is parked elsewhere, at least on Mondays, so that they can enter the collectorate without difficulty.
