Hyderabad: A 20-year-old young man died, allegedly by suicide, in his house Medipally in Moinabad late night on Thursday. The youngster, who was found hanging to a ceiling fan in his room, was reportedly humiliated and harassed by agents of a finance firm.
The man, identified as B.Vishnuvardhan, an auto trolley driver lived with his parents and had purchased the vehicle three years ago with an auto loan from a finance firm in Vikarabad.
Though he regularly paid monthly installments in the beginning, later he could keep up with the payment schedule.
According to the police, the vehicle was seized twice for non-repayment earlier. However, he paid and took it back then.
Due to the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, he again found payment an issue and could not pay installments for nearly seven months. A collection agent from the finance firm reached his house on Wednesday and warned that the vehicle would be seized again if he did not clear the dues. He was depressed over this and felt humiliated, police said, adding that this could have prompted him to end his life by hanging from the ceiling fan in his room.
Based on a complaint lodged by Vishnuvardhan’s brother, a case was booked and is being probed. Police said based on further investigation necessary action will be taken.
