‘Harassed’ by municipal officials, family tries to end life in Nirmal
Shekkari Ramesh, along with his wife, two children, stage sit-in in front of Nirmal municipality, accuse the officials of stalling construction of their house, citing petty reasons even after issuing permission
Nirmal: A family attempted to die by suicide, alleging that officials of the Municipal Department were harassing them by obstructing the construction of their new house here on Saturday.
Shekkari Ramesh, along with his wife, two children and some of his relatives from Gandhinagar in the town, staged a sit-in in front of Nirmal municipality, accusing the officials of stalling construction of their house, citing petty reasons even after issuing permission.
They said that they were vexed at roaming around the office of the municipality. The agitating family disclosed that they staged a protest when they did not get justice.
They declared that they would continue to do so until the civic officials assured them of justice. They then tried to kill themselves by setting them on fire after dousing petrol over their bodies. However, policemen present at the spot prevented the suicide bid.
