Khammam: Unable to bear alleged harassment by a rural medical practitioner (RMP), a young woman ended her life at Relakayalapalli of Singareni mandal in the district.
According to the police, J Sandeepthi (20) and Nama Naresh, who worked as an RMP in the surrounding villages, were in love with each other for some time. When her parents came to know about their love affair, they confined her at home and stopped her from going to college.
Out of fear, the RMP went into hiding. When he asked Sandeepthi to marry him without fearing her parents, she refused. With this, he not only posted the photos they took together as his WhatsApp status but also posted them on other social media platforms.
Following this, the girl along with her parents filed a complaint against Naresh at Karepalli police station on November 6. The young woman consumed pesticide on November 13 feeling that her and her family’s reputation had been tarnished by the publicity of the photos.
Family members rushed her to the Government General Hospital in Kothagudem for treatment. She died on Friday as her condition worsened.
