Banswada: BRS MLC K Kavitha came down heavily on the Congress government for harassing BRS activists and threatening them against participating in the party’s upcoming silver jubilee celebrations meeting at Elkathurthy near Warangal on April 27. She said such harassment would not be tolerated and the names of those Congress leaders and officials would be recorded in the party’s pink book.

“No one who files false cases, misuses police power or harasses the BRS cadre in any form, will be spared,” she said while addressing a preparatory meeting in Banswada on Tuesday.

Kavitha stated that while party president K Chandrashekhar Rao was a good person, she was of the “rowdy type” and vowed to pay back with interest to the Congress leaders targeting the BRS cadre. She stated that the BRS activists would not fear such empty threats from those in power.

The BRS MLC criticised the Congress for distributing guarantee cards ahead of the elections and now turning its back on those promises. “This government deserves a Nobel Prize for betraying people and facing their hatred in just one and a half years,” she remarked sarcastically.

She reminded that BRS was born from sacrifice and struggle for Telangana statehood, but not compromise. “Telangana was not gifted. Our leader Chandrashekhar Rao had quit a union Minister’s post to fight for the State. The Congress delayed Telangana for 10 years, leading to countless sacrifices of martyrs,” she said.

Kavitha cited schemes like Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima and the State’s extensive irrigation projects which were all Chandrashekhar Rao’s legacy.

“We created light in Telangana where Congress predicted darkness, cultivated crops in over one crore acres,” she asserted, calling on every household to send one representative to the Silver Jubilee celebrations.
