Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao asked the authorities of OILFED to expedite the operations of the refinery at Oil Palm Factory in Narmetta. Speaking after visiting the Oil Palm factory along with Balkonda MLA Vemula Prasanth Reddy on Saturday, Harish Rao said that the oil palm factory had crushed some 60,000 metric tonnes of oil palm crop since the project was opened in March, 2026.
Stating that several farmers in Siddipet district had benefited from the factory, Rao said that Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) had made oil palm cultivation possible in Siddipet. He asked the Oilfed officials to be available to farmers coming to the factory. Rao, who participated in multiple programmes in Siddipet constituency on Saturday, demanded that the government cancel GO No 97, which was issued to merge the polytechnic education system with skill university.
Extending his support to the protesting polytechnic students in Siddipet on the same issue, he feared that polytechnic college students would lose the opportunity to join B-Tech second year through lateral entry with the proposed merger.
