Siddipet: Finance and Health Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was concerned and committed to the welfare of the poor in the State, particularly orphans.

Speaking after inaugurating a night shelter at Manikanta Nagar here, the Minister instructed the NGO entrusted with the responsibility of managing the night shelter to provide proper facilities to the inmates and to consider as social service. The facility was built at a cost of Rs 72.82 lakh with the objective of providing shelter to destitutes.

Harish said the destitutes would be given a locker to keep their things safe besides serving them breakfast, meals, and a bed to rest. “The administration does not want to see any person starving on Siddipet roads,” he said, adding that hygiene should be given priority at the shelter and some entertainment activities too for the inmates.

Municipal Chairperson K Manjula, SUDA Chairman Ravindra Reddy, Market Committee Chairman Pala Sairam, local Municipal Councillor Akthar Patel, Municipal Commissioner KV Ramana Chary, and others were present.
