Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao has charged the Congress and BJP with remaining silent, while Andhra Pradesh is allegedly diverting Telangana’s rightful share of Krishna and Godavari waters.

He criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, and BJP leaders including Union Ministers for failing to act against water exploitation by Andhra Pradesh.

“While Andhra Pradesh is diverting 200 TMC of Krishna water through Banakacherla, why is Revanth silent? When Andhra Pradesh openly claims it is redirecting Godavari floodwater, why is Uttam Kumar Reddy not taking actiong?” Harish Rao questioned.

He pointed out that Andhra Pradesh has been drawing 10,000 cusecs per day from Nagarjuna Sagar Right Canal for last three months without any resistance from Telangana’s leadership except the BRS.

Blaming both the Congress and BJP, the former Minister alleged a corrupt nexus between Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Revanth Reddy, and the BJP.

“Do Telangana MPs lack the courage to stop Chandrababu Naidu? How long will they continue deceiving Telangana, while water is illegally diverted?” he asked, adding that the Congress-BJP leadership is proving to be deadly for Telangana’s water interests, while BRS alone is fighting to safeguard them.

Meanwhile, Harish Rao also cited the drinking water crisis in Chintakarra village of Adilabad district, blaming the Congress government for failing to sustain Mission Bhagiratha which ensured safe drinking water to every household. “People in remote areas are once again suffering like in the pre-Telangana formation era, forced to fetch water from streams and wells,” he said, holding the government responsible for failing both irrigation and drinking water needs.
