Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao has called upon the citizens to install only clay Ganesh idols by staying away from using the idols made up of Plaster of Paris (POP).
Addressing a gathering after launching the distribution of clay idols by BC Corporation, the Minister said several NGOs, spiritual organisations, individuals and even the government organisations were making clay idols. He also appreciated BC Corporation for creating employment opportunities for Kummari community people by roping in their services in making the clay idols. The BC Corporation distributed 1,000 clay idols on this occasion.
The Minister informed the citizens that the Siddipet Dharimkia Samstha, Amarnath Annadhana Seva Samithi, ward councillors were distributing the clay idols to make Ganesh Chaturthi an eco-friendly festival.
Zilla Parishad Chairperson V Roja Sharma and others were present on the occasion.
