Harish Rao asks Uttam Kumar Reddy to lift water to Ranganayaka Sagar to meet yasangi needs

In a letter addressed to Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday, Harish Rao said that the project had 1.89 TMCft of water now against its full capacity of 3TMCft

Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao has urged the Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy asking him initiate efforts to lift water from Mid-manair to Ranganayaka Sagar to meet the yasangi needs of farmers of ayacut.

In a letter addressed to Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday, Harish Rao said that the project had 1.89 TMCft of water now against its full capacity of 3TMCft.

The irrigation department had pumped in 2.4 TMCft of water ahead of Yasangi cultivation. However, Rao said that, the paddy fields need another 2.5 TMCft of water until the crops were harvested.

The former minister asked Reddy to lift 2.5 TMCft of water in two phases to meet the farmers’ needs. He said that the farmers were worried whether they government would supply sufficient water to them until the end of the season.
