Hyderabad: Former Minister and BRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao on Sunday urged voters to defeat the Congress in the upcoming municipal elections and teach the government a fitting lesson for failing to deliver on its promises. He said the municipal polls would be a stepping stone for the return of the BRS in the State.
Welcoming BJP leader Mahender Goud and his followers from the Narsapur constituency into the BRS fold at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, Harish Rao said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had failed to implement key promises and had neglected farmers and the poor. Unlike the BRS regime, the Congress government was not releasing Rythu Bandhu assistance regularly, he said, adding that farmers were being deprived of irrigation water, fertilisers and quality power supply.
The senior BRS leader said the Congress had cheated various sections by failing to enhance pensions, provide promised benefits under Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak, distribute Bathukamma sarees, and release student scholarships. He added that the government was more focused on filing cases against Opposition leaders than on governance.
Criticising both the Congress and the BJP, he said the two parties had joined hands in Telangana. He remarked that the BJP was focused only on North Indian States for votes and was ignoring South India.
Former Minister and Narsapur MLA V Sunitha Laxma Reddy and other party leaders were present.
