Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao on Monday criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, charging him with double standards and misleading statements on issues affecting Telangana and its people while delivering a deceptive governance during the Congress government’s first year in power. He announced that the BRS would release a comprehensive chargesheet on December 7, explaining the Congress government’s failures over the past year.

“Revanth Reddy is a double-tongued leader who is more dangerous than a two-headed snake. We might be able to deal with a double-edged sword, but not Revanth Reddy who consistently changes his stance on different issues,” he said, adding that the Chief Minister failed to deliver on promises to farmers, women, and the unemployed.

Harish Rao, who made a video presentation on previous statements of Revanth Reddy during a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, sarcastically remarked that Revanth Reddy had completed his PhD in double-speak and changing statements according to his needs, pointing out instances where Revanth Reddy’s statements as TPCC president contrasted starkly with his actions as Chief Minister.

The former Minister reminded that Revanth Reddy, while in opposition, promised Rythu Bandhu benefits for three crops but had failed to sustain the scheme for even two crops after coming to power. He criticised the Congress government for withholding the financial assistance promised under Rythu Bharosa, demanding immediate release of Rs.15,000 per acre for farmers for both Vanakalam (Kharif) and Yasangi (Rabi) seasons.

Similarly, Revanth Reddy had promised to distribute better quality sarees to women under Bathukamma sarees, but discontinued the scheme completely now. He criticised the Chief Minister for reversing his earlier stance on regularisation of lands. He said Revanth Reddy who opposed collection of fee for Land Regularisation Scheme (LRS), was now setting target of Rs 15,000 crore allocation for the same. “If you care about the poor, make LRS free,” he demanded.

The BRS legislator blamed the Chief Minister for allowing unchecked liquor sales through belt shops, contradicting his previous stance of eradicating them. He said while Revanth Reddy spread false propaganda that Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme was a failure, his Cabinet colleagues were releasing water from the reservoirs linked to the same project. He also questioned Revanth Reddy’s double standards on conducting exams to fill various government jobs.

Harish Rao took sharp jabs at Revanth Reddy’s leadership style, for idolising Congress leader Sonia Gandhi to gain political mileage. “From calling Sonia Gandhi a ‘sacrificial deity’ in the past to now referring to her as ‘Soniamma’, Revanth Reddy’s opportunism is blatant,” he remarked. He ridiculed the Chief Minister’s hypocrisy on party defections, Cabinet status for advisors, and infrastructure projects.

He lamented that the people of Telangana have suffered from fraud and deception under Revanth Reddy’s leadership. “Rythu Bandhu, pensions, and even Bathukamma sarees have been discontinued. Parents worry about their children being influenced by Revanth Reddy’s divisive language and irresponsible leadership,” he said.
