Hyderabad: BRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao on Wednesday accused Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy of misleading people over Krishna River water utilisation. He demanded an explanation for discrepancies between the State government’s figures submitted to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) and the Minister’s claims on social media.
In a post on X, Harish Rao cited the agenda submitted by the Telangana government for the 21st KRMB meeting, which stated that Andhra Pradesh had diverted 45.791 TMCft of water from the Srisailam project to areas outside the river basin as of September 21, 2026. However, Telangana had utilised only 10.653 TMCft through the MGKLI scheme for requirements within the basin, the agenda stated.
“Which figures are correct, those submitted to the KRMB or those in your tweet?” he asked Uttam Kumar Reddy, demanding clarification on whether the government was misleading the Board or the people.
He accused the Congress government of recording the lowest ever utilisation of Krishna River water and releasing water downstream instead of conserving it.
