Officials handing over financial aid to Sujatha, the wife of Kothaval Srinivas who died of Covid, in Siddipet on Sunday.
Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao has come to the rescue of a family in Siddipet town that was living in abject conditions after the sole breadwinner succumbed to Covid-19 on May 26. With the landlord of the rented house, they were living in refusing to allow them into the house fearing that the virus may spread to others, Sujatha, the widow and her two minor children have been living in a small space in front of a shop in Srirama Kunta Colony since then.
Kothaval Srinivas (45), a resident of Siddipet town, used to work as a barber. He tested positive for Covid-19 and succumbed to the disease.
On coming to know about the family’s plight on Saturday, Harish Rao instructed the local officials to immediately allot a double bedroom house to Sujatha. Assuring all support to the mother and her children, the Minister comforted them over the phone. As immediate relief, Rao also asked the officials to give them some cash and all the essentials sufficient for a month.
Siddipet Thasildar Vijay and other officials have shifted the family to a double bedroom house in KCR Nagar, where the government has built 2,460 2-BHK houses. The Tahsildar said they allotted a house to the family in the 127th block of the colony. Sujatha’s son Ruchit and daughter Deeksha are studying in 9th and 6th classes respectively in a local school.
The family thanked Harish Rao for his immediate response. Agriculture Market Chairman Pala Sairam, Councillors Nayni Chandram, Deepthi Nagaraj, Deputy Thesildar Yella Reddy comforted the family members. They asked them to call them if they needed any help.
