Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao on Sunday came down heavily Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, demanding an apology for his remarks against former Chief Minister and BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao. He charged Revanth Reddy with misleading the public about his “mortuary” comment, claiming that the Chief Minister was now backtracking from what he said.
Revanth Reddy had defended his “mortuary” remarks in the Assembly, saying they were aimed at the BRS, and not the former Chief Minister. However, Harish Rao released footage of the speech where Revanth Reddy had said that one speaking about stature was put on a stretcher and would soon be sent to the mortuary.
“Do you want the death of Chandrashekhar Rao, the leader who sacrificed everything for Telangana?” Harish Rao asked, asserting that the BRS chief not only secured statehood but also led its development for a decade.
He charged the Chief Minister with fostering a culture of abusive language, calling him the “father of foul language, false narratives, bodyshaming and social media sinners” and a “brand ambassador of falsehoods.” If Revanth Reddy’s lies were taxed under GST, the State treasury would be empty, he said.
Condemning the suspension of BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy on false accusations of making derogatory remarks against the Speaker, the former Minister questioned the Assembly’s tolerance of Revanth Reddy’s foul language.
On Revanth Reddy’s warning against usage of abusive language against him in social media, he took a dig at the former for preaching morals in the Assembly, but continuing the same abusive language.
He reminded that it was Revanth Reddy who started using unparliamentary language on public platforms.
“While Chandrashekhar Rao is the father of Telangana, Revanth Reddy has become the father of slander,” he said, adding that the Chief Minister did not realise that his opponents had families and abused them until someone targeted his family.
He pointed out that Revanth Reddy had once called for shooting Chandrashekhar Rao dead and for blowing up his official residence at Pragathi Bhavan. “He did not spare me or KTR’s son while bodyshaming. You are solely responsible for the abusive language in State politics,” he asserted.
