Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao tore into the Congress government, for betraying government employees and mocking its own promises made in the Abhayahastam manifesto. He demanded the immediate release of all pending DAs and a clear policy for employee welfare.

In a statement, Harish Rao fumed over the State Cabinet’s decisions, calling the government’s handling of employee issues as ‘confused and deceptive’. He questioned the rationale behind releasing just one DA (Dearness Allowance). He pointed out that while the Congress promised to release three out of five pending DAs immediately after coming to power, it took 18 months to take decision for release of just one.

“The Revanth Reddy government talks of timely DA disbursal, but is now saying the next one will come only after six months. This defies all logic, especially when DAs are expected biannually — in January and July,” he said.

Harish Rao also hit out at the delay in forming the Pay Revision Commission (PRC), which the Congress had vowed to set up within six months of forming government. “Eighteen months have passed. But there is no PRC, no clarity on pending dues, and no relief for retired employees. Is this the Congress version of employee welfare?” he questioned.

The BRS MLA also ridiculed the Cabinet announcing decision of releasing funds for loan insurance and accident insurance cheques to women members of Self Help Groups (SHGs). He reminded that Revanth Reddy gave the same cheques twice – first in Warangal in November 2024, then again in Hyderabad in March 2025. “Now they talk about taking a Cabinet decision? Were the earlier cheques just photo ops?” he asked.
