Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao lashed out at Congress leaders for their unfulfilled promises regarding the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project, demanding justice to the affected farmers and residents in the northern part of the project. He targeted Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, and Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, asking them to honour their election promises.

Addressing the victims of RRR project who met him at his residence here on Tuesday, and explained about their grievances, Harish Rao found fault with Priyanka Gandhi for failing to stand by the assurances she gave to the RRR victims during the election campaign. He pointed out that farmers in Choutuppal Municipality and Mandal are suffering because of the project’s alignment, where only 28 km stretch is being taken up in northern part of RRR, while 40 kilometers are being considered in the southern region.

The former Minister also noted that poor residents are losing their housing and agricultural lands, as well as homes due to the expansion of the junction at Choutuppal from 78 acres to 184 acres. “The compensation is insufficient, and the affected people are being forced to sign agreements,” he added, calling it a Congress-mark betrayal.

Harish Rao reminded the public that Komatireddy Venkat Reddy previously promised to change the road alignment, but now carrying out surveys of these lands and forcing land owners to give up the land for acquisition,” he added. He urged Priyanka Gandhi to intervene and instruct the State government to address the victims’ grievance, warning that the BRS party would continue to fight on behalf of the affected farmers if action is not taken.
