Hyderabad: Finance Minister T Harish Rao escaped unhurt on Sunday when his convoy was involved in a pile-up after the driver of the pilot vehicle applied brakes suddenly after hitting a pack of wild boars that sprinted across the Rajiv Rahadhari at Nagulaband near Siddipet.

Following the sudden brake, several vehicles including the one in which Harish Rao was travelling, rammed into each other. The Minister was unhurt but a couple of drivers sustained minor injuries. The Minister’s vehicle, a Kia SUV, was badly damaged.

Harish Rao got down from his vehicle immediately and comforted the injured. He called the ambulance service and ensured that they were shifted to a hospital in Hyderabad

The Minister was seen asking the police personnel to move the damaged vehicles to ensure smooth traffic. He also asked the local youth to remove the carcasses of the wild boars from the road. The Minister travelled to Hyderabad in another car arranged by the officials. Harish Rao was returning to Hyderabad after participating in the District Collectorate and Police Commissionerate inauguration programmes by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

In a statement, the Minister asked his followers not to worry. “I am safe and I am travelling to Hyderabad in another vehicle, ” the Minister said.
