Karimnagar: Finance Minister T Harish Rao came down heavily on the Opposition parties for trying to create confusion among Dalits by spreading wrong propaganda on Dalit Bandhu scheme, which is going to be launched on pilot bases in Huzurabad constituency. Chief Minister K Chandrashekahar Rao will formally launch the scheme on August 16.

Each and every eligible Dalit family in Huzurabad constituency would be provided benefit under Dalit Bandhu scheme, he made it clear and appealed the people not to believe rumours being spread by political leaders for their selfish gains.

The Minister pointed out that Rythu Bandhu scheme was also started from Huzurabad. Then also, BJP and Congress leaders had spread similar kind of false propaganda stating that only a few farmers would benefit under the scheme. However, the Rythu Bandhu benefit has been provided to farmers even during Covid-19 pandemic, he informed while addressing a press conference in Huzurabad on Saturday.

“Opposition leaders, who appreciated Rythu Bandhu when it was launched in Huzurabad, are unable to digest the launch of Dalit Bandhu ahead of the bypolls. They were trying to provoke people by creating doubts on all government schemes,” he added. To help for economic empowerment of Dalit families, the Dalit Bandhu has been designed. Accordingly, the State Cabinet took a decision for its implementation by allocating Rs 2,000 crore. With the amount, about 20,000 families would get benefit.

Referring to the Opposition comments that the scheme was being launched with an eye on Huzurabad by-polls, Harish Rao informed that being a Finance Minister, he had proposed the scheme in the State budget earlier this year. It was also informed that State government has decided to introduce Dalit Empowerment scheme in addition to SC and ST sub-plans.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekahar Rao announced the scheme in the month of March when there was no election. “How the launch of Dalit Bandhu would become wrong when Rythu Bandhu is not wrong,” he questioned. Political leaders usually welcome and appreciate the Chief Ministers, if a new scheme was launched in their respective constituencies. Unfortunately, in Huzurabad, local leaders were provoking the people against the launching of the scheme, Harish Rao said.

Commenting on BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s demand to provide Rs 50 lakh under Dalit Bandhu, the Finance Minister asked Sanjay Kumar to provide Rs 40 lakh on behalf of the Central government, if BJP was committed for the welfare of Dalits. He said people would perform Palabishekam to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Sanjay Kumar, if the Union government provides Rs 40 lakh to Dalits.

Government was committed to provide the Dalit Bandhu to all the beneficiaries of the Assembly segment. However, some of the people were trying to create hurdles to the scheme by approaching the court. The entire Dalit community is watching their attitude and are aware of the forces behind them. The scheme would be implemented across the state by allocating more funds in the next budget, he assured.

Selection of beneficiaries would be held in a transparent manner by organizing grama sabhas, wherein Sarpanches, MPTCs, ZPTCs, would also participate. Right from 24 hours free power to Rythu Bandhu, he pointed out that the State government implemented every promise made to the people. Talking about the Chief Minister’s tour programme, he informed that Chandrashekhar Rao will arrive at the meeting venue at 2 pm and stay up to 4 pm. The Chief Minister would distribute proceeding certificates to 15 beneficiaries while launching the scheme.

On the occasion, Harish Rao expressed condolence to the death of Disha reporter from Huzurabad Laxman Rao and assured to provide all kinds of assistance to the kin of the deceased.
