Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao has accused the Union government of meting out step-motherly treatment towards Telangana in vaccine distribution.

Disclosing statistics of vaccine distribution to expose the Union government’s bias, the Minister said the Centre has sent just 21,000 thousands vaccine vials to Telangana while it had sent 1.63 lakh vaccines to Gujarat.

In a statement after a visit to Covid-19 ward in Government Medical College Siddipet on Friday, the Minister demanded an explanation from the Centre on this issue. He also lashed out at the Union government for agreeing to the Serum Institute’s proposal to sell vaccines to States at Rs 400 while charging only Rs 150 for the Centre.

Seeking the Centre’s explanation for the variation in prices, Harish Rao demanded that vaccines must be covered 100 per cent in Telangana first because a majority of vaccines are produced in Hyderabad.
