Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders on Saturday paid rich tributes to Professor Kothapalli Jayashankar on his death anniversary, remembering him as the ideological torchbearer of the Telangana movement.
Describing Jayashankar as a visionary who dedicated his life to the cause of Telangana’s statehood, BRS senior leader T Harish Rao said the professor holds a unique and indelible place in the history of the movement.
He credited the realisation of Telangana as a separate State to the ideological path charted by Jayashankar and the leadership of BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao. “Under KCR’s guidance, Jayashankar Sir’s vision became a reality,” he said.
Harish Rao highlighted the progress achieved during the nine and a half years of BRS rule, stating that Telangana’s development under its governance had become a model for the rest of the country.
Quoting the professor’s memorable words, “When the oppressed society raises its voice, the educated must wield the pen”, Harish Rao said Jayashankar had truly lived by those ideals, advocating for justice and equality until his final days.
