Harish Rao paid tributes to irrigation expert and Telangana movement leader Vidyasagar Rao on his birth anniversary, praising his role in exposing discriminatory water policies and educating people about Telangana’s rights over its water resources

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader and former Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao commemorated the birth anniversary of late R Vidyasagar Rao, a renowned irrigation expert and Telangana movement leader, paying rich tributes on Friday.

In a post on ‘X’, Rao hailed Vidyasagar as a “foremost expert in irrigation” who educated common people on Telangana’s water exploitation and injustice faced by its people.

“His invaluable services remain unforgettable,” Rao noted, highlighting Vidyasagar’s role in educating masses during the statehood struggle. Vidyasagar (1940–2017) exposed discriminatory water policies favouring coastal Andhra. He exposed the injustice meted out to Telangana in development of irrigation sources through seminars and mentored activists to fight against the raw deal meted out to the State.
