Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao on Monday announced that he would bear the entire tuition fee from his own pocket if any student from the BC Residential School for Girls at Chintamadaka secured a medical seat by cracking the NEET examination. He also assured that a digital tablet would be gifted to students who gained admission into IIIT-Basara.

Participating in the Republic Day celebrations at the school, Rao urged the girls to follow the example of students from minority residential schools in Zaheerabad, where 11 students had cleared NEET. While distributing blankets to hostel inmates, he recalled that the BRS government, under the leadership of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, had established several residential schools and colleges to support students from poor families.

Earlier, Rao launched a digital connect programme for Class 10 students and introduced evening snacks at a government boys’ school in Siddipet. He said he had been spending around Rs 5 lakh annually from his own funds over the past five years to provide digital content and evening snacks to students preparing for board examinations.

He said as many as 169 toppers had secured seats in IIIT-Basara and called upon students to draw inspiration from their achievements. Later, Harish Rao inspected government hospitals and cancer treatment units to review the facilities being provided to patients.
