Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao has demanded the State government to immediately release retirement benefits to nearly 8,000 retired employees and teachers since March 2024. He warned that if the government remains indifferent, the BRS would launch a fight to secure justice for the retirees.

In a statement, Harish Rao stated that dues ranging between Rs 80-90 lakh per employee, including provident fund, gratuity, insurance, commutation, and surrender leave benefits, had not been cleared for the last one year. Calling it shameful, he called out the government for its negligence and ignorance to the plight of those who dedicated three decades of service.

“Is this how the government repays employees and teachers who served the people for 30 years?” he asked, explaining out how retirees were suffering mental anguish, falling ill, and running from offices to courts to claim their rightful benefits.

Pointing to their struggles, Harish Rao said, “One is waiting for money for his child’s wedding, another for her son’s education, and another for medical treatment for his ailing wife. Yet, the government has shown no concern for months.”

He accused the Revanth Reddy government of cruelty towards retired employees and teachers, holding it responsible for their financial distress and suffering.
