Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao countered Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu’s remarks regarding turncoat MLA Arekapudi Gandhi‘s presence at the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting. He refuted Sridhar Babu’s claim that Gandhi met the Chief Minister as a courtesy, asserting that Sridhar Babu’s justification lacked credibility.
“Sridhar Babu claimed that the meeting took place in Gandhi’s constituency and hence, he paid a courtesy visit. If the Chief Minister attends an official event, such courtesy calls are valid, but attending a party meeting is an entirely different matter,” he remarked.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Monday, Harish Rao questioned why the other turncoat MLAs Prakash Goud and Kadiyam Srihari attended the meeting, if it was merely a courtesy call. He ridiculed Sridhar Babu’s explanation, dubbing it as “blatant lie” and accusing the Congress government of undermining democratic values.
He added that the Congress was trying to mislead the people in this regard, but the latter were aware of its tactics. “How many more lies will you tell?” he asked, stating that the Congress government’s actions had exposed their disregard for democracy.
