Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao accused the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of misleading the people on Congress party’s performance in gram panchayat elections.

Rao said that the BRS party had won 92 gram panchayats out of 179 in Gajwel Constituency while Congress managed to win just 68 panchayats. However, the former minister said that the Chief Minister claimed the Congress had won a majority of panchayats in the constituency.

Speaking to news reporters after welcoming some 50 workers from opposition parties into BRS fold at Kodakandla in Gajwel mandal on Friday, Rao further accused the Chief Minister of presenting false statistics on Congress performance in panchayat elections. Rao said that the BRS had won over 40 per cent gram panchayats which is an indication of people’s rejection of Congress.

The senior BRS leader also said that the people of Telangana taught a lesson to the Congress Party as it failed to keep the promises made during the election campaign. The former minister said that the Revanth has failed to implement loan waiver, rythu bharosa and also failed to supply urea to farmers.

Stating that the turncoat MLAs, who switched loyalties to Congress from BRS Congress, campaigned for sarpanch candidates of Congress, Rao said that the Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar has dismissed their petitions. He lashed out at the Chief Minister for supporting the Speaker’s decision.
