Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao on Monday slammed the Congress government for misleading the public and taking credit for the 24-hour electricity supply in Telangana. He said the BRS, under the leadership of K Chandrashekhar Rao, made Telangana the only State to provide uninterrupted power to farmers, but the Congress was now shamelessly and falsely claiming credit for it in the election-bound States.

“It is laughable yet infuriating to see Congress shamelessly boasting about 24-hour power in election campaigns as if it is their achievement,” he said. He stated that the Congress had no progress to showcase from their own States and hence, was using the BRS achievements as its own for votes. “This is nothing but double standards and hypocrisy,” he added.

Harish Rao reminded that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had earlier criticised 24-hour free power to farmers as excessive and argued that three hours would be sufficient.

“These anti-farmer statements, advocating power cuts, reflect Congress‘s real stance,” he asserted, adding that it showed a consistent lack of commitment to the welfare of farmers. Instead of delivering a honest governance and showing tangible progress, he said the Congress was trying to exploit BRS achievements for electoral gains in other States.
