Hyderabad: Decrying the yawning gap between the words and deeds of the Congress leadership in the State, BRS leader and former minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday came down heavily on the Revanth Reddy government for failing to fullfil its election promises.

Interacting with media persons at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, he pointed out that the government had promised two sarees instead one during the Bathukamma festival, but ended up providing not even one.

The government had also promised to increase the Rythu Bandhu assistance from Rs.10,000 to Rs.15,000 per acre, but had not delivered a single rupee so far under the Rythu Bharosha scheme. He also highlighted that the government had stopped the KCR Kit scheme and also had not released fish seedlings into lakes, causing significant injustice to the Mudiraj and Gangaputra communities.

He said the Congress government was making changes that do not benefit the people. It had promised to release double the fish seedlings but failed to do so even though the lakes are full. He questioned why the fish seedlings, which were supposed to be released in August, have not been released even in October. Harish Rao mentioned that while the previous government spent Rs.100 crore on fish seedlings, the Congress government had allocated only Rs.16 crore in the budget.

Regarding the Regional Ring Road land acquisition, Harish Rao stated that the previous government had proposed the northern and southern parts of the road, with the Centre approving the 158-km northern part. Notifications for land acquisition were issued under Section 3A, with the costs to be shared equally by the State and union governments. However, the Congress government, which has been in power for 10 months, has not yet started the land acquisition process. He demanded that the government pay compensation to the farmers according to market value on a war footing in the northern part and finalise the alignment in the southern part as instructed by the National Highway Authority.

He criticised the government for changing the alignment to benefit certain influential individuals, increasing the length from 182 km to 198 km, and burdening the State with an additional Rs.20,000 crore.
