Hyderabad: BRS Deputy Floor Leader T Harish Rao lashed out at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the Congress government over what he described as administrative negligence in handling the Kalyana Lakshmi and 22-A prohibited land controversies. He said the government’s actions were subjecting people to severe hardships.
Harish Rao questioned why government officials should be made scapegoats for mistakes committed by the Chief Minister and his Cabinet Ministers.
Taking to X, the former Minister asked, “Are you running a government or a circus, Revanth Reddy? Why should government officials pay the price for your mistakes? Why should they face punishment for errors committed by you?”
Targeting the Ministers, he said BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar was trying to shift the blame onto officials after what he described as a conspiracy to halt the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes was exposed.
Similarly, Harish Rao said Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy was trying to evade accountability by simply saying “sorry” and blaming officials after a land scam involving 22-A restricted lands came to light.
“Revanth Reddy, it is not enough to simply say ‘sorry’ and walk away after committing irreparable errors in matters deeply affecting people’s lives,” Harish Rao said.
He said poor families were worried that the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes might be discontinued. He added that many people had suffered mental anguish because of the 22-A restricted land issue.
Harish Rao said the Chief Minister should address his own alleged negligence and his government’s failure instead of merely taking action against officials.
“People are waiting for the right moment to deliver a harsh, corrective lesson for the Congress government. No matter how many times you apologise, the people gain nothing from it,” Harish Rao said.
He demanded that the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme not be stopped. He also sought the removal of landowners’ properties across the State from the prohibited category list and demanded that all rights be granted to them.
