Hyderabad: BRS Legislature Party deputy leader T Harish Rao held the Congress government responsible for the complete collapse of emergency healthcare services in Telangana. He questioned whether this was the “Praja Palana” promised to the people.

Citing two recent incidents reported in vernacular media on Monday, Harish Rao said the condition of the State’s public healthcare system had become deeply disturbing and heartbreaking. He alleged that in Tandur, a pregnant woman was forced to deliver her baby on a railway platform after 108 ambulance services reportedly failed to respond despite repeated calls.

In another incident in Bhadrachalam, a poor family had to carry their deceased relative’s body on their shoulders after the hospital allegedly failed to provide even a hearse vehicle.

“There are no ambulances to save lives and no vehicles to carry the dead with dignity,” Harish Rao remarked, questioning the state of emergency medical services under the Congress regime.

The former Minister recalled that the 108 ambulance and hearse vehicle services introduced during the BRS government had become a lifeline for the poor and vulnerable families during emergencies, childbirth and medical crises.

Stating that these incidents were not just administrative failures, Harish Rao said they reflected the suffering of poor people dependent on government healthcare systems. He demanded immediate restoration and strengthening of emergency services, proper functioning of 108 ambulances and hearse vehicles across districts, and accountability for the alleged failures.

“Telangana’s people deserve dignity in life, dignity in emergencies, and dignity even in death,” he asserted.
