Warangal: Former Minister and senior MLA T Harish Rao on Friday lashed out at the Congress government for its neglect of Mid-Day Meal scheme workers, who have been protesting across Telangana over pending bills and wages. He demanded immediate clearance of arrears and salaries, assuring the workers of full support from BRS in their struggle for justice.
Meeting aggrieved workers from Warangal at his residence, Harish Rao said the Revanth Reddy government was depriving wages and bills to those who feed hungry students at government schools under the Mid-Day Meal scheme. He accused the State government of abandoning the workers who were promised higher wages if Congress came to power.
He expressed concern that thousands of families, who ensured the scheme’s success for over two decades, were now sinking into debt. “It is a shame that the Congress government remains silent even as workers stage protests across the State. The government is directly responsible for the plight of these workers,” he added.
