Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao has demanded that the government appoint a commission headed by a sitting judge to conduct a transparent inquiry into irregularities in the Group-1 recruitment process.
Addressing unemployed youth at a job mela organised by the MLA at Vipanchi Kala Nilayam here on Saturday, Harish Rao alleged that serious corruption charges were levelled against elected representatives and officials linked to the recruitment. He said it was shameful on the part of the government to appeal against the court verdict instead of correcting its mistakes.
He accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of cheating unemployed youth after coming to power. Rao reminded that Revanth had promised jobs to two lakh unemployed youth in the government sector during a programme at Ashok Nagar, attended by Rahul Gandhi, ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections.
Exposing what he called false claims on recruitment drives, Rao maintained that all notifications had been issued by the previous BRS government, but the Congress government was taking credit by distributing appointment letters. He also criticised Revanth for failing to issue a recruitment calendar as promised.
Rao further said that Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi had announced an honorarium of Rs 4,000 per month for unemployed youth, but no step had been taken to implement the scheme so far. He accused the Congress of betraying unemployed youth with false promises and vowed that the BRS would continue to raise these issues in the State Assembly.
