Harish Rao slams govt for neglecting ST hostels
Former finance minister T Harish Rao inspected an ST hostel in Kagaznagar and flagged the lack of basic amenities, drinking water and uniforms for tribal students. He accused the government of neglecting hostel facilities and demanded immediate improvements.

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Former finance minister T Harish Rao slammed the government for ignoring tribal students studying in hostels. He made a surprise inspection of an ST hostel in Kagaznagar on Friday while heading to Koutala to participate in a BRS protest.
Harish Rao interacted with inmates of the hostel and found out about their challenges. He regretted that the students were facing inconvenience as the hostel was lacking basic amenities. He regretted that the inmates were struggling to reside due to a lack of drinking water as the RO plant had stopped functioning. He wanted officials to immediately repair the plant.
Harish Rao expressed concern that the students were being diagnosed with diseases as the windows had no doors and mosquitoes were entering their rooms. He wondered why the students had not been given uniforms so far. He faulted the officials for showing negligence in providing basic amenities to the students.
Speaking to media persons, the former minister said that the government, which claims to offer quality education, had utterly failed to create basic amenities for students studying in ST hostels. He demanded that it improve the facilities at the hostels. He was accompanied by BRS leader Dr RS Praveen Kumar, Asifabad MLA Kova Laxmi, former MLAs N Diwakar Rao and Koneru Konappa.
